FIFA Women’s World Cup quarterfinal between Australia and France featured the longest penalty shootout in tournament history on Saturday.
At the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane on Saturday, the penalty shootout between Australia and France in the quarterfinal game was the longest shootout in FIFA Women’s World Cup history.
Australia eventually prevailed 7-6 after the shootout, which featured 10 penalty kicks for each team. The Matildas’ Cortnee Vine converted the game-winning penalty as the hosts advanced to the semifinals of the competition for the first time.
