Lionel Messi won the title of The Best FIFA Men’s Player for 2023

Lionel Messi won the title of The Best FIFA Men’s Player for 2023, once again outshining Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland.

In a ceremony held in London on Monday, the prolific attacker secured the honor of being recognized as the world’s best men’s player for 2023, marking his third win after previous triumphs in 2019 and 2022. Adding to his achievements, Messi’s eighth Ballon d’Or in 2023 and a victorious 2022 FIFA World Cup campaign further solidified his status as the best player globally.

Notably, Messi’s latest win with The Best FIFA Men’s Player award is historic as he becomes the first player to achieve this while playing in the MLS, showcasing his exceptional talent on the international stage.

Despite the accolades, Messi, along with Mbappe and Haaland, was absent from the awards ceremony. The Argentine opted to stay in Miami, focusing on training with the Herons for their upcoming preseason game against the El Salvador national team on Friday, gearing up for the 2024 MLS campaign set to kick off on February 21 against Real Salt Lake. The pre-season also includes exciting friendlies, including a match against Cristiano Ronaldo and Al-Nassr on February 1.
